Program Description
Construction Technology program students will learn how to safely operate hand and power tools for jobs in carpentry, masonry and construction management. Students will take the skills that are learned while creating in-shop modules and apply them to on-site construction of homes. They will learn the basic math skills needed to estimate material and cost lists of projects, and study the essentials of entrepreneurship. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in regional carpentry and masonry competitions. The practices learned in this program will prepare students for long term advancement in the construction industry and will benefit them in their personal life as well. Upon completion, students may choose to secure a job in commercial or residential construction or advance to a postsecondary school to pursue a degree in construction, project management or enter into an apprenticeship program in a trade school.
